22 lis 2023 · This publication includes global estimates of gender-related killings of women and girls by an intimate partner or family member, with data from 2022, and features policy recommendations. By ensuring that every victim is counted, we can ensure that perpetrators are held to account and justice is served.
While overall homicide numbers globally have started to fall after a peak in 2021, the number of female homicides is not decreasing. Most of these killings of women and girls are gender-related, and more than half of all female homicides are committed by intimate partners or other family members.
From the total number of female victims, six out of ten women (58 %) were killed by a partner or male relative. One third were killed by a former or current partner. Women were victims in 82 % of all homicides carried out by intimate partners (UNODC, 2018).
1 gru 2022 · Of the estimated 4,970 female victims of murder and nonnegligent manslaughter in 2021, data reported by law enforcement agencies indicate that 34% were killed by an intimate partner (figure 1). By comparison, about 6% of the 17,970 males murdered that year were victims of intimate partner homicide.

23 lis 2022 · With the aim of galvanizing global action against this all-too-pervasive crime, UNODC and UN Women have joined forces to produce this research paper on the global estimates of gender-related killings of women and girls in the private sphere in 2021.
Homicide represents the most extreme form of violence against women, a lethal act on a continuum of gender-based discrimination and abuse. As this research shows, gender-related killings of women and girls remain a grave problem across regions, in countries rich and poor.
