Symbol Basics. Before diving into specifics, let’s cover some fundamental aspects of meteorological symbols: Simplicity: With forecast graphics and reports needing to convey much information very visually, symbols stay simple in their depictions.
Pictograms. Weather conditions are graphically summarised by pictograms. These show sunshine, clouds, precipitation type, intensity and thunderstorms for the time period referenced in the forecast.
