Yeah, the PS3 80 gig has been discontinued for now. In June though, there are going to sell a bundle the 80 gigs with MGS4 in it. Yes, it is for the whole world, and it is not only for Japan.
The CECHE model is the 80gb model with backwards compatibly, all the others are non-backwards compatible. If it has chrome trim, card readers on the front, and 4 USBs on the front it’s backwards compatible. If it has silver trim, no card readers on the front and only 2 USBs, it’s Not backwards compatible.
