7 paź 2024 · Laban’s 8 efforts provide a clear vocabulary for describing and exploring expressive movement. Each Effort has its own unique characteristics and can be used to express a range of emotions, intentions, and states of being.
Laban used the first three factors and their element combinations to generate eight descriptive "effort actions": flick, dab, float, glide, slash, punch, wring, and press. These efforts comprise the building blocks of human movement; studying and practicing them can enhance a conductor's ability to move musically and expressively.

During action there are eight types of Effort that emerge. Laban called them the ‘Efforts of Action Drive’. In other words, they are the key types of Effort that are expressed when we are motivated to act. Laban named these Effort qualities: Floating, Dabbing, Wringing, Thrusting, Pressing, Flicking, Slashing, and Gliding.
