These teachings are derived from: the Gospels and the words of Christ; papal statements and encyclicals; and Catholic bishops’ statements and pastoral letters.

Through our actions we must express that each person is precious and the lives and welfare of all people are priorities. This belief is the foundation of all the principles of our social teaching.
The US Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) have identified seven core themes in Catholic Social Teaching (CST). The CST Bible Study is an eight week program exploring those themes. The first week is an introduction to CST and weeks two through eight are sessions on each of the seven themes.
