24 maj 2011 · I have a 10 bolt bare housing allegedly out of a first gen. The flange to flange dimension is 54.5" and the perches are 42 5/8". Is there a way to determine if it's an 8.125" (8.2?) or an 8.5" ring gear? Do my flange and perch measurements correspond to a first gen rear end?
9 gru 2014 · I'm looking at a local 1969 Camaro and it has a 350ci engine, turbo 350 transmission and 10 bolt rear end with an X11 code. I've read that 10 bolt rear ends could have come factory on the SS with 2 speed powerglides.
The following is a complete listing of all axle codes used on 1967-69 Camaros. This list was compiled from multiple GM references and from actual vehicle data. Some combinations of features have multiple axle codes, e.g. there are four 12-bolt 3.07 non-posi axles codes listed for 1968.
25 mar 2016 · If, on the other hand, the rear-end measures only 42 7/16-inches, then we have to do some additional investigating. The reason for this is that the early 8.2-inch 10-bolts for the 1968-69 Camaros were this width, but this is also the spec of a later corporate 8.5-inch 10-bolt out of a 1972-75 Nova.
