Over the years I'm sure many of us, perhaps most of us, even all of us, have heard sermons on prayer: prayers of thanksgiving, prayers of supplication (asking God for something), intercessory prayers (praying for others); and we've heard messages that included subjects such as the frequency of prayer, when to pray, where to pray and how to pray.
This article aims to shed light on the five major forms of prayer as understood by the Catholic Church: Blessing and Adoration, Petition, Intercession, Thanksgiving, and Praise. When we bless God, we are acknowledging Him as the source of all that is good.
