This document provides information on the composition, properties, and applications of AISI 4340 low alloy steel that has been tempered at 205°C and oil quenched. It lists the steel's typical composition as Fe/.38-.43C/.7-.9Cr/1.65-2Ni/.6-.8Mn/.15-.35Si/.2-.3Mo/<.035P/<.04S.
Heating and cooling regimens used for construction the CCT diagram of AISI 4340 steel. Samples were made in form of cylinder with diameter of 4 mm and length of 10 mm. Each experiment was repeated 4 times, and averages were calculated to obtain relevant values.

In this study, flow stress behavior of AISI 4340 steel in thermomechanical process was investigated under temperature and strain rate ranges of 1173 to 1373 K and 0.01 to 1 s-1, respectively. In flow curves, mechanisms such as work hardening (WH), dynamic recovery (DRV) and dynamic recrystallization (DRX) occurred.
