25 kwi 2019 · The new correctly adapted HEI distributor has just one input power wire (ON/OFF) lead that is fed by the ignition key switch, and a lead for an HEI compatible tachometer, if one is desired. So simple, and much more reliable than the other distributors that came with our IHs when they were new.
1 lut 2017 · The installation is quite simple. Red wire to power and green wire to tach. Some posters recommend to use a relay to draw power for the HEI directly from the battery and others state that it's unnecessary. Search this forum for "HEI" for a bajillion threads regarding the HEI installation.

3 lis 2011 · So I was talking to a friend who is pretty knowledgeable on jeeps about an easy way to make the 4.2 to a fuel injection. Basically he said you swap the intake manifold, wiring harness, ecm, and injectors from a 4.0 engine. Says the intact manifold set up is the same. Has anybody tried this?
18 mar 2017 · Hi everyone, I am trying to do an HEI distributor upgrade to my 1989 YJ. It has the AMC 258 and I'm trying to figure out which wire to use for the tachometer. The original distributor connector has 3 wires which are orange, violet, and black.
