3 mar 2015 · For 308, the original M80 load spec calls for a velocity of 2750 fps ±30 fps at 78 feet from the muzzle of what I presume to be a standard 24" test barrel. The gas port pressure is to be 12,500 CUP ±2000 CUP, with the chamber peak pressure not exceeding 50,000 CUP.

The short-barreled Remington Model Seven averaged 1.17 inches for all nine loads tested. The best of the bunch was the Hornady 178-grain ELD-X over a charge of 44.0 grains of Hodgdon CFE 223 powder.
