25 mar 2010 · I'm wondering the difference in bullet drop and wind-drift from 100-1000 yds between a 24" barreled .308 and a 20". I've assumed that the data on Federal's ammo boxes corresponds with a 24" barrel. I've got a compact remingtion 700 so I'm trying to figure out the difference.

21 sty 2010 · 20" .308 Win will be just fine for 500 yard shooting. Here's my recommendation... 5R rifled 20" heavy barrel, HS Precision stock, stainless action and barrel, BDL mag setup, 5/8x24 threads, and proven track record of accuracy.
27 gru 2014 · Cutting the barrel from 28″ to 16.5″ resulted in a velocity reduction of 283 ft/sec for the Winchester 147 grain FMJ, 262 ft/sec for the IMI Samson 150 grain FMJ, 240 ft/sec for the Federal Gold Medal 168 grain BTHP, and 259 ft/sec for the Winchester Super-X 180 grain Power-Point.
27 paź 2007 · Anyone that reloads knows that in order to get 2800-2850 fps out of a 22" barrel with a 308 Win, and using the powders commonly used in military 7.62 NATO loadings (ussually 43 to 45 gr) the pressure is about 50,000 CUP or close to 60,000 psi.
