It was supposedly an interview and I had to dress up in a suit. Red flag #1 was that this "interview" was at someone's house. The pyramid scheme was to sign other people up to sell phone cards and internet service over 56k to others. The startup fee I remember being a very suspicious number... $420.

A friend of mine recently got involved with a company called 2by2.net. Apparently they are THE next internet provider, cheaper & faster than aol. That might be true but they recruit people from the street to "very exclusive" meetings in fancy hotels, at the end of which they should pay $420 to become an "e-commerce-consultant".
