11 paź 2015 · I ran out of the 186-041 and 492 heads and now use 601 casting 305HO heads. Runners end up 170-172cc and chambers with no milling will be 58cc with 1.84-1.50's and 61-62cc with 1.94-1.50 or 1.94-1.60 valves. When i first used the 292H with the 305 head and 1.94 valve i could not reach my rpm goal .. it went flat at 7200rpm.
16 kwi 2013 · Those old 292 turbo heads were the first over the counter race heads from GM. , way back in the 70's! More meat in them for porting, deleted heat crossover, and they were available with both straight and angle plugs.
24 sty 2015 · Just about any modern performance SBC head would work better than the old 292 "Turbo" heads. The 292 heads were designed around 1970 and are based on the traditional SBC head at the time which had a water port in between the intake spring seat and the intake bowl.
10 lip 2010 · If I were going to fabricate a hybrid head, my choice would be a multi-angle chamber design such as the Cleveland (only .020" smaller pitch than the 292), and begin with used alcohol sprint parts to get an aluminum casting for $500.
8 mar 2011 · Chris, I have been running those heads on my 302 for 15 years...they are my favorite! They have been called 292 "Turbo" heads when they first came out in the early 70's. Valve size are 2.02 intake.
14 lut 2020 · You can build a cross flow head by welding 2 v8 heads together with one cylinder chopped off each head. Not a simple mod but probably a better head than any modifications you can make to the original head.
17 sty 2022 · if you look at the 1st #292 Turbo Head FlowSheet and Pics, that Head was not Angle-Milled , and the 2 steam holes are not plugged up, so that Cyl Head's Intake Valve with a 2.080" is much more shrouded at higher Valve Lifts
