23 lut 2022 · The .22 WMR uses a case of larger diameter than that of the .22 LR—0.226 inches for the .22 LR and 0.242 inches for the .22 WMR—so in spite of the fact that the bullet diameters are the same, the .22 LR cannot be fired in the .22 WMR chamber.
Although both cartridges are considered 22-caliber, the 22 LR fires 0.223” diameter bullets while the 22 WMR fires a 0.224” bullet diameter. Even though the 22 Magnum can pack in more powder than the 22LR, both cartridges fire similar bullet weights between 30 and 50 grains.
7 lip 2017 · There are differences between the two specifications for 22 LR barrel dimensions. As you can see, the 22 WMR dimensions are common to both CIP and SAAMI standards. However, for 22 LR, the CIP standard specifies a minimum bore dia. ~0.005 in smaller than SAAMI, and a minimum groove dia. ~0.004 in smaller.
.22LR and .22WMR ammunition are both rimfire cartridges that shoot bullets that weigh around 40 grains. That’s where the similarities end. As was said before, most guns chambered in one caliber will not work in the other.
8 maj 2023 · The 22WMR has a flatter trajectory and more power than the 22LR, making it better suited for hunting small to medium game such as coyotes, raccoons, and larger hares at longer ranges. It’s also more accurate than the 22LR on a regular basis which makes it a great choice for target shooting.
