This engine was rated at 190HP with 5-speed and 175HP with automatic. This was the final evolution of the 2.3 turbo engine from Ford with changes made to offer the best driveability and all around performance with minimal compromises. Excellent engine and 5-speed to use in street rods and engine swaps as a complete system.
28 maj 2011 · Looks like I'm going to drop a Ford 2.3 engine and drive train from an early Ranger into my '63 Rambler American. Looking for links to manufacturers that make performance intakes and headers for this engine. Also links to articles on engine builds for this. Already looking into the mid-80s T-bird Turbo Coupe motor.
8 kwi 2012 · All Ford castings have a date code. It may be under the valve cover. The intake ports on carbed engines are either oval ( early ) or d shaped, ( later ).In '85 they went FI and had d-shaped intake ports. In '89 they went to a dual plug style head. PetesPonies, Apr 9, 2012.
7 mar 2008 · I could be wrong here, but I believe the small bolt pattern (5 bolt) C4's were just the early 64's, and are pretty rare. Most C4s are 6 bolt (large pattern). I bought a 1980 Ford Courier for the 2.3L and C4, so I know they come in those.

Seeing various 4-Banger threads here on the HAMB has me somewhat thinking in the 4-Banger direction. The other possible directions I'm considering are a 59AB flathead V-8 w/top shift transmission ...
4 kwi 2008 · 4) STROKE IT! If you end up buying parts, instead of a finished engine, go for the chevy rods or a longer rods with shorty pistons. It's better for torque. You can pretty easily get to 2.7L. (with the Ford SVO tall deck block, you can get to 3.0L!) 5) also, try to find a 2.5L crank.
23 maj 2009 · I have an adapter kit for a FORD Pinto 2.0L engine to a VW transaxle. Would a 2.3L engine work with it, or do I have to find a 2.0L?

The Pinto origionaly came with the English 1600cc cam in block engine.Early 72 the German 2000cc overhead cam was offered as an option so many bought the optional engine that Ford discontinued the 1600 cc later in that year.In 74 Ford introduced their U.S.built 2300cc engine (with bad connecting rod oiling) in ...
22 gru 2008 · It is a 2.2L four cylinder, 134 cubic inch engine. Piddly 115hp at the crank. My reasoning for this. 1.)I was going to turbocharge the engine. It worked out to be $1500+ just for the extra injector controller, injectors, bosses, etc. Then I have the price of a turbocharger and intercooler, etc.
7 mar 2017 · I have a 31 Ford pick up that has a 2.3L 4banger currently with a C4 trans, it's currently not on its original Frame but will be. From what I can understand (by using the search bar) on this forum if I use a T5 world class be it from a Ford or Chevy I will have to do some cutting on my frame, not to mention that the shifter will sit back WAY further than where it would have been stock.
