The 1st Armored Division, nicknamed "Old Ironsides", [1] is a combined arms division of the United States Army. The division is part of III Armored Corps and operates out of Fort Bliss in El Paso, Texas. It was the first armored division of the United States Army to see battle in World War II.

It's an armored division patch. Even though it doesn't say it, it's from the 2nd Armored Division. When I was in 2AD, we wore the patch on the left chest, over the heart in honor of General Patton. We were the only AD that wore them that way.
