The 1 7/8" headers outperformed through the entire rpm range and didn't kill any bottom end. The difference on this stock engine wasn't much however, single digit HP and TQ. The 1 7/8" would really start to shine even more on a modifed engine, heads, cam, compression etc...

6 maj 2015 · To begin things, Hooker will soon be releasing new 1-3/4" and 1-7/8" stainless steel mid-length headers and a bolt-on compatible 2.5" dual exhaust system (with X crossover) for these cars.
11 gru 2009 · My understanding is that 1-3/4" is best for a basic bolt-on type car, perhaps with a mild cam, and that the 1-7/8" are best for forced-induction/stroked/heavily modded engines. Sound about right? Jake Brodersen, MSgt (Retired), USAF
Hello all, I've swapped 1 7/8th inch LT headers and a full exhaust onto my 2002 c5, and just want to throw a few quick tune changes at it for safety before my AEM wideband sensor gets here and I can really get elbows deep into it.

7 sty 2012 · The 1 7/8" headers made a peak hp of 414.x hp & 421lb ft while the 1 3/4" headers made 408hp & 419 lb ft of torque. While this isn't a huge difference, it definately shows that even on a basically stock car the larger headers are still a good investment!
