- 15TH SW HISTORY
The 15th Strike Wing is a wing unit of the Philippine Air Force, responsible for overall tactical and ground air support operations in support of Armed Forces of the Philippines units. The unit is headquartered at Danilo Atienza Air Base, Sangley Point, Cavite, just outside the capital Manila.
On 18 February 1975, the Wing deployed four (4) T-28D aircraft to Edwin Andrews Air Base, Zamboanga City, in support of SOWESCOM operations. Barely three days later, had the first air strike in 15th Strike Wing’s history taken place in Kandiis, Province of Basilan.
On 20 October 2021, the Men and Women of 15th Strike Wing led by the Wing Commander, Brigadier General Aristotle D Gonzalez PAF, witnessed history as they welcomed the Super Tucanos at Major Danilo Atienza Air Base (MDAAB), Sangley Point, Cavite City.
27 sty 2020 · The aircraft, which will be assigned with the PAF's 15th Strike Wing, will be used to provide close air support to ground and naval forces, direct airstrike against fixed and mobile targets, and provide a secondary role of surveillance and patrol over in support of the AFP's overall requirements.
The 15th Strike Wing is the PAF's main unit providing air support and ground attack missions. It currently has attack aircraft like the Rockwell OV-10 Bronco and Marchetti SF-260TP light aircraft, and armed helicopters like the McDonnell Douglas MD-520MG Defender and AgustaWestland AW109E Power.
