We saw a neat little portable "O" scale layout at a local model train demonstration where this fellow had 2 loops of Lionel Fastrack set up on 8 foot folding tables side by side. I think he bolted them together along the sides using wing nuts.
21 sie 2020 · In it, the author shows the construction of the most basic 4 ft x 8 ft train table. He says to use 2 x 4 stud lumber, spaced 16 inches between studs, and 1/2 to 5/8 inch plywood (not OSB). In fact, you can tell from his pictures that his plywood is 5/8ths.
12 kwi 2022 · My own first layout was a 4 x 8 in HO-scale, using an Atlas track plan. It is possible, legal, and OK by the forum, to build layouts in other shapes though. The long & skinny shape I advocate, is closer to the shape of a real railroad's right of way, than a loop on a 4 x 8 is.
