Trait mindfulness is generally conceptualized as “the general tendency of a person to show characteristics of nonjudg-mental awareness of present-moment experience in their everyday life” (Krägeloh, 2020, p. 64). This view is reflec-tive of the whole trait theory in personality (Fleeson, 2001; Fleeson & Jayawickreme, 2015).

Of a total of eight unidimensional scales, one is primarily a state measure requiring prior meditation ( Lau et al., 2006 ), but a trait version has also been developed ( Davis et al., 2009 ).
Trait mindfulness (or sometimes called dispositional mindfulness) is perhaps the most relevant personality trait to date for meditation-based interventions.
