It doesn't look like scam and the guy happens to know his sh*t. It tracks routes of 3 carriers (Ryanair, Easyjet and Vueling). Basically it does what anyone would do for his or her recurrent routes (I usually know what are the best prices of each season for my flight back home, for example).

I'll also be going to Medellin in April. A one-way ticket out of Boston is $288-$360 (for an early flight) on the 17th. Airhint says I also have a 65% chance of it coming down but if I was in your shoes I would buy immediately. I may buy in the next few days.

The site informs you periodically how prices change. you can give your email and they will notify you when the price changes, although sometimes it doesn't so it's better for you to go and look again too. it tells you whether to wait or buy the ticket but be careful here.
