Cemetery. Lakeside Cemetery was established in 1877 for the purpose of consolidating all public burial grounds in the City into a single location. Of note are the graves from the Fort Gratiot Military Post which were relocated here, including victims of the 1832 cholera epidemic.

Coordinates: 43°01′09″N 82°26′09″W. Lakeside Cemetery in Port Huron, Michigan was first established in 1877. The City of Port Huron purchased the original 148 acres (60 ha) from local Port Huron resident John Hoffman.
On July 7, 1884, the federal government dedicated a monument at the Lakeside Cemetery Soldiers' Lot to honor the unknown soldiers from Fort Gratiot who fell victims to the cholera epidemic, July 4, to 18, 1832. Built by Philo Truesdell of the Port Huron Marble and Granite Works, the shaft is constructed of Concord granite.
