The plane, a McDonnell Douglas DC-10, had been in operation for about seven years, with just around 20,000 miles logged in flight.
August 25, 1946: American Airlines Flight 26, ( Flagship Tulsa ), a Douglas C-47, was on a training flight originating and terminating in Memphis. Around 5 miles (8.0 km) west-southwest of Ashland, Mississippi, the aircraft crashed into the ground. Both occupants on board were killed.
