However, with the same entertainment options and similar food offerings, I'm primarily led to consider premium economy on AA flights to Europe in the future.

Don’t expect a true premium experience, but an upgraded experience over economy. The AA Premium Economy experience is similar to domestic first class, but long-haul in this case.
