  1. The following guidelines apply to academic programs that lead to a degree. What is an Academic Program Review? The purpose of an academic program review is to evaluate the effectiveness, quality, rigor, relevancy, and viability of a program for the purpose of improvement and accountability.

  4. Illustrate instructional innovation within the program. Explain the impact of online education offerings on the program, if applicable. Identify the educational, professional, and career goals that a student can aspire to as a graduate of the program.

  5. Program review provides an opportunity to take a comprehensive look at an academic program and guide changes in the curriculum, pedagogy, and faculty development by engaging key stakeholders in critical review and discussion.

  6. Provide a brief history of each degree/certificate program in the unit/department, including the year it was first implemented. Situate this history within the context of the unit/department, college, and university. List all degree programs including minors, concentrations, specializations offered.

  7. Academic Program Review is a multi-semester process in which an academic unit conducts a self-study and writes a report that is then reviewed by the provost’s office, dean, college administrators, and a team of peer reviewers.
