Measurement of Distance and Areas. How to measure distances, areas, and bearings in the military situation generator. This section deals with the map display functions. The options for coordinate systems and camera work in the 2D and 3D view are described in detail.
Find the two points/ places on the map that you are going to measure the distance. Use any of the item stated above (preferably a strip of paper for straight line distances) to measure the distance between the two places.

Evaluation Preparation: SETUP: In the field or classroom, give the Soldier a 1:50,000-scale military map, a strip of paper with a straight edge, and a pencil. On the map, plot a straight-line distance of 3,000 to 4,000 meters.
