Doing a search will show sites with PS shortcuts. As you found, the ctrl/cmd key will switch the pen tool to the direct selection tool. And the alt/opt key will change to the tool convert point tool. No need to search for a new tool, when using the pen tool.

19 maj 2015 · This is the full list of default keyboard shortcuts AND mouse actions. The shortcuts can be further customized via the Edit > Keyboard Shortcuts menu. Where you see several actions and only one shortcut/key, you need to press it several times to toggle between actions.
