Albert "Al" Borland is portrayed as Tim Taylor's long-suffering sidekick on the show-within-a-show Tool Time, as well as one of Tim's closest friends. He is played by Richard Karn. Al is slightly overweight, and always seen wearing flannel, about which Tim jokes consistently.
