Online education has experienced dramatic expansion while institutions of higher learning continue to increase online course offerings in an effort to satisfy student demand (Capra, 2011).
At present, fewer studies on online education have focused on exam-ining previous research and studies, and we have conducted a comprehensive review study trying to provide a platform of discussions for educators and policy makers on how to develop and de-liver effective online programs.
Online education is on track to become main-stream by 2025. This editorial documents country-level factors that impact quantity and quality of online education.
