We have special adoption requirements for kittens 12 weeks or under. To help ensure a happy transition, you’ll need to adopt a second kitten, already have a friendly pet, or have experience owning a cat and work primarily from home.

Chicago Cat Rescue is an all volunteer-run organization, and we rely on compassionate individuals in our community to foster our rescued cats until they find their forever homes. Chicago Cat Rescue is unique in that all of our animals available for adoption are cared for in private foster homes.
Chicago Animal Care and Control is open for walk-in adoptions from 12 pm to 7 pm daily. If you are planning to adopt the day you visit, please plan to arrive before 5:30 pm. Visitors arriving after 5:30pm will still be able to view animals in Pavilions A-B-C & cat adopts until 7pm.
