The Board of Cosmetology members work with the department in meeting its mission to “License Efficiently. Regulate Fairly.” There are approximately 254,000 licensed individuals and 25,800 licensed salons pursuant to Chapter 477, Florida Statutes, and Chapter 61G5, Florida Administrative Code.
A Florida barber license is required to perform all barbering services. For out-of-state or out-of-country barbers, you may be eligible to take the Florida barber written examination if you held your license for at least one year.
