Prepare for Basic Military Training. The New York Air National Guard has six main bases across the state located in Newburgh, Niagara Falls, Rome, Scotia, Syracuse, and Westhampton Beach. They perform 12 unique missions while training and preparing the citizen Airmen to respond to the governor of New York for state emergencies or the call of the president in times of crisis.
In order to become an officer in the Air National Guard, you must hold a bachelor’s degree and pass the Air Force Officer Qualifying Test (AFOQT). If selected, you are required to complete the Academy of Military Science (AMS) officer training program prior to your 35th birthday.

A: (current as of 4 May 22) During Basic and Tech Training, BAH is based on the Basic Trainee’s home of record. Once an Airman/Guardian enters the operational Air or Space Force, BAH is based on the location of the Airman’s/Guardian’s first permanent duty station.
