Some of the French versions included a hyphen. Nunavut (created in 1999) does not have a designated abbreviation because it did not exist when these codes were phased out, though some can be found in other official works.
The names of provinces, territories and districts may be abbreviated when they follow the name of a city, town, village or geographical feature: Wawa, Ont. Mount Robson, B.C. It is not necessary to use the provincial abbreviation after the names of well-known cities such as Vancouver, Winnipeg, Toronto, Ottawa and Fredericton.
Il n’y a pas d’abréviation officielle pour le Nunavut. Nun. est la recommandation du Bureau de la traduction. L’abréviation Nt est aussi grammaticalement correcte, mais nous ne la recommandons pas étant donné sa ressemblance avec l’indicatif NT des Territoires du Nord-Ouest.
