I used to fly into Europe from the US using the cheapest possible way/cheapest city, then just using a low cost carrier like Easyjet or Vueling to get to other European (or final European) cities pre-pandemic.
Sometimes though a “package” deal using the big travel engines (Expedia, Travelocity, Priceline—-pretty much the same companies) comes out cheaper when combined with just 1 night hotel (even if hotel isn’t used by default).
Fares have been very low in general in the past few months but no one can tell you for sure if they will go higher. It might help to know from what airport you are flying as prices would change depending on traffic at your airport.
