21 lip 2023 · In a nutshell, the new rule would remove the onerous and arbitrary 1320-pound weight limit, would increase stall speed to 54 knots from the current 45, and would allow retractable landing gear and controllable pitch propellors. Current LSAs are limited to 120 knots, but under the new rule, the limit would be 250 knots.

Light sport aircraft, or LSAs, are lightweight aircraft that are simple and easy to fly and less expensive to purchase and operate than conventional aircraft. In general, they are larger than ultralights but smaller than most regular general aviation aircraft.
19 lip 2023 · AOPA pushed hard to expand the light sport aircraft definition, relax most current operating limitations, and allow certain operations for hire heretofore reserved for certified aircraft. The FAA scheduled the rule's publication for July 24 in the Federal Register, which will start a 90-day public comment period.
