The following States were elected from among ICAO’s 193 Member States to the Organization’s 36 Member Governing Council during the 2022 ICAO Assembly. States of chief importance in air transport. Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, United Kingdom and the United States.
International Civil Aviation Organization member states. As of April 2019, there are 193 ICAO members, consisting of 192 of the 193 UN members (all but Liechtenstein, which lacks an international airport), plus the Cook Islands.
The Assembly chooses the Council Member States under three headings: States of chief importance in air transport, States which make the largest contribution to the provision of facilities for air navigation, and States whose designation will ensure that all major areas of the world are represented.
