3 lip 2024 · It flows some 1,570 miles (2,530 km) across southeastern Australia from the Snowy Mountains to the Indian Ocean. The main towns in the Murray River valley are Albury, Wodonga, Echuca, Swan Hill, Mildura, Renmark, and Murray Bridge. The river is named after Colonial Secretary Sir George Murray.
The Basin is 3,375 kilometres (2,097 mi) in length, with the Murray River being 2,508 km (1,558 mi) long. Most of the 1,061,469 km 2 (409,835 sq mi) basin is flat, low-lying and far inland, and receives little direct rainfall.

21 paź 2023 · The Murray-Darling Basin Authority state the river length as 2,520km and also state the length of the Darling River at 2,740km which combines all the waterways of the Darling above Bourke. Geoscience Australia state the length of the Darling River at 1,472km from the Murray River to Culgoa River.

12 maj 2023 · The Murray river is 2,508 km long while the Darling river is 1472 km long. Due to the large range of the Murray-Darling basin, climates can range from sub-tropical to grasslands to temperate (Australian Wildlife Journeys).
