General of the Armies of the United States, more commonly referred to as General of the Armies, is the highest military rank in the United States.
The highest rank attainable in the Army is the five-star General of the Army. Often called a "five-star general", the rank of General of the Army has historically been reserved for wartime use and is not currently active in the U.S. Army.

26 lip 2022 · When Public Law 482 permitted the creation of the rank, the US Army promoted four servicemen to Generals of the Army: Dwight D. Eisenhower, George Marshall, Douglas MacArthur and Henry “Hap” Arnold. The law also allowed the US Navy to promote its sailors, with Ernest King, Chester Nimitz and William Leahy becoming fleet admirals.
