20 gru 2023 · Founded in 1929 as Inter-Island Airways, the airline began life as an island-hopping carrier, operating two 8-seat Sikorsky S-38 amphibian aircraft and a Bellanca monoplane. The airline's inaugural flight took place on November 11th, 1929, from Honolulu to Hilo, with a stopover in Maui.
Hawaiian Airlines continued to serve interisland needs. On its 23rd anniversary, HAL acquired five new Convair 340s, the first pressurized aircraft in interisland operation. Pioneer Stanley Kennedy retired from active management of the company in 1955, becoming Chairman of the Board.

Our History. Hawaiian Airlines was incorporated on January 30, 1929 under the name Inter-Island Airways Ltd. That year, thousands gathered in Honolulu to witness the departure of Hawaii's first scheduled inter-island flights to Maui and the Big Island of Hawaii.
24 mar 2015 · Interisland air travel was initiated by Stanley Kennedy, a WWI aviator who acquired two Sikorsky S-38 Amphibian aircraft and initiated direct service from Honolulu to Hilo (3 times a week) via Maalaea, Maui, and Port Allen, Kauai (2 times a week). Later, service was added to Molokai.
Inter-Island Airways, a subsidiary of Inter-Island Steam Navigation Company, began operations on October 6, 1929, with a Bellanca CH-300 Pacemaker, providing short sightseeing flights over Oʻahu.
