RIF's newest literacy resource is a collection of leveled reading passages for each grade, all with original content and illustrations. The passages are designed to extend student learning after reading specific books, but may also be used independently of ouside books.

Identify a Benchmark Passage that the student has never seen before. Use the fiction-nonfiction topic pair at each level for more familiar text. Support a student's comprehension of the topic with one passage before evaluating with the other passage. Use the Running Record to record the student's reading behavior.

Running Records allow educators to evaluate where students are reading smoothly and where they are not, in the moment. With this data, teachers can target small-group instruction and guide the reading, scafold one-on-one lessons, and share results with students and their families.
