Absolute vs Relative vs Cognitive Distance. Absolute Distance- is an exact measure of the separation between two points using a standard, such as inches, meters, or miles. Relative Distance- is when less precise but often meaningful measures are used to describe separation between two points.
Absolute distance - Distance in quantitative terms; such as miles or kilometers. Relative distance - Qualitative distance; such as 20 min south, 30 min north, description of place. Clustering - How close objects are over a geographical space. Dispersal - How far objects are spread out.
