Look up your current and 2023 Ward & Alderperson by street address. A list of all 50 Wards with links to each Ward site. As the legislative body of the city, the City Council usually meets once every month to exercise general and specific powers delegated by state statute.
In June 2021, the State of Illinois adopted a statute that changed the title of City Council members to alderperson (plural: alderpersons), replacing the gendered term aldermen. However, some members of City Council continue to use the term alderman or instead use alderwoman or alder. Corruption
The Chicago City Council assumed its modern form on April 16, 1923, with fifty wards each electing one alderperson. Here is a list of the people who have served as an alderperson since that time.
5 kwi 2023 · CHICAGO — City Council will look radically different when the next crop of alderpeople take their seats May 15. Elections Feb. 28 and Tuesday saw 13 new faces elected to lead the city’s wards — and some of them represent history-making shifts for Chicago.
Membership. The following table lists current aldermen who are affiliated with the caucus since its formal organization in 2021. Andre Vasquez was also a member of the caucus when it was unofficially organized in 2019, but was not part of the founding membership in 2021.
