We have booked several package deals through Travelocity and Expedia and they were always cheaper than booking directly with the airline. So, I'm not sure why this was the case, but in all instances, vacations went fine, no problems, no glitches and everything was always as promised.
A travel agent, like travelocity or a brick and mortar agent, can do this as one ticket where the airline website often can’t or has a higher pric. I just booked a trip like this. Travelocity was about $200 per person cheaper than booking through either of the airline’s sites. There’s 2 of us and $400 was significant to me.
