Open the Maps app. Find the destination you wish to go, and tap Get Directions. The directions will appear, by default from ‘My Location’, which will appear in blue.

A red pin will be placed in that place. Tap Measure distance from the context menu. Now move the map. You will see that the black circle also moves.
