I remember when tip.it had a entry page where you chose between runescape, Age of Camelot, and some other game. Tip.it also had an idle runescape setup on it as well. Same days before rs toolkit / swiftkit, it was basically the source of a information for rs. Aside from a few dodgy angelfire sites.
Oh, and use the wiki. It literally has every answer possible to any question you could have related to the game. That and if you’re ever stuck on a quest it’s very helpful.
I guess my tip for you when beginning the game is to give it a chance. There's a lot to RuneScape and it can be overwhelming, but there's also a very good wiki to help you along the way (and reddit, of course!)
It was structured that way as part of a push to make the ongoing plot more accessible to newer players. Ritual of the Mahjarrat alone has a requirement list that encompasses over 25 quests, some of which have their own quest requirements.
