10 sie 2021 · It’s a spectacular stretch featuring some of the oldest sections of roadway that are still driveable. Oklahoma City (“oh, so pretty” according to the Route 66 anthem) and Tulsa are both worth a stop.
It's an iconic Route 66 motel that gets good reviews. There are a couple of restaurants nearby, including a steak place right next door. My personal plan for that part of the trip was to check in there and then backtrack to the Tower Station in Shamrock for some night photos of the neon.

You can find and drive on about 80% of the original route, and the EZ guide will get you there. There are also miles and miles of original concrete roadway you can drive on. Search on Route 66 in this forum and you will find links to various websites including the Route 66 associations in every state.
306 helpful votes. 2. Re: Route 66. 3 years ago. The Blue Swallow Motel is a perfect Rt 66 motel. It is in Tucumcari. Plan on that for a night. Choose something near the plaza for Santa Fe. It is an awesome place to walk.
Me and my partner are wanting to go on an American road trip next year and was thinking about Route 66. Does anyone know of any good companies who can organise the whole thing ( car & hotel) or are we better off doing it all separate and does anyone have any hotel suggestions.
