Rhumb Line is a sailing race game from Newport to Tortola. This game comes in a tube measuring 20" long with diameter of 2 1/2" and uses a laminated map for a playing surface. The object is to race from Newport, Rhode Island to Tortola, British Virgin Islands.

Rhumb Line... 2-player abstract strategy game of observation, placement (nuggets) and accumulation (points). Players take it in turns placing their nuggets, on the empty board, to form point-winning rhumb lines. 4 in a radius = 10 points … 4 in an arc = 20 points … 4 in a spiral = 30 points.
A rhumb line intersects all meridians (lines of longitude) at the same angle. In other words, you follow it by flying a constant heading. The shortest distance between two points on a (nearly) spherical globe follows a great-circle route.
I understand using the rhumb line method is great for long trips even if it takes longer to arrive at your destination apposed to using the great circle route which the game uses for shortest distance to your destination. Not using the rhumb line requires course adjusting, especially between the R00 points.
The Rhumb line is usually longer than GC distance but it will get you to same destination without making any other course change after you find and follow the Rhumb line path. I decided to give it a try and completely deviated from my flight path after I was cleared for R002.
