A student pilot who is receiving training for cross-country flight in a single-engine airplane must receive and log flight training in the following maneuvers and procedures: ( 1 ) Use of aeronautical charts for VFR navigation using pilotage and dead reckoning with the aid of a magnetic compass;
and flight proficiency standards for private pilot certification in the airplane category, single-engine land and sea; and multiengine land and sea classes. This ACS is available for download, in PDF format, from www.faa.gov.
(a) Except as provided in part 107 of this chapter, this part prescribes: (1) The requirements for issuing pilot, flight instructor, and ground instructor certificates and ratings; the conditions under which those certificates and ratings are necessary; and the privileges and limitations of those certificates and ratings.
