I have been a self employed full time visual artist since 1998. My primary medium is acrylic paint, I incorporate collage, relief printmaking, and stitching on canvas. Sometimes I include photography, vintage textiles and buttons.
Photography, pottery, and printmaking became my favorite media. My first summer job was in a pottery studio, scraping kiln shelves, and sifting fireplace ash to make glaze. I attended the Visual Arts Program at Camosun College, and received my Associate of Arts in 1988.

Experience Main St. The Art. Kathrine Allen-Coleman. I began this series of work almost 20 years ago. A dress is attached to the canvas, to introduce the story teller. The stories come from snippets of memory, flashes of childhood. A moment in time when a phrase, or a nickname was important.
Kathrine Allen-Coleman. I love to experiment with the abstract. I work intuitively on each piece, simply finding the next mark that improves the last. These pieces develop as metaphorical landscapes from a birds eye view. As an artist, I have been fortunate enough to travel through much of the U.S.
