In order to separate air traffic and prevent collisions, aircraft in cruise flight fly at common pressure levels known as flight levels (abbreviated to FL). The flight levels correspond to the altitude in 100-ft increments (hectofeet) above the pressure surface of 1,013.25 hPa calculated according to the standard atmosphere.

As it shows a height of a given pressure level, you can make some assumptions about air mass temperature and pressure systems. You could also determine wind velocity and direction to some accuracy.
10 wrz 2021 · The normal cabin pressure during flight is basically a function of the aircraft type. Maintaining a lower pressure altitude in the cabin creates a higher pressure difference between the cabin and the air outside of the plane, which the aircraft needs to be able to sustain.

The latest and most appropriate Regional Pressure Setting value is to be used for checking terrain clearance in flight. Aircraft flying in a Control Zone or TMA at an Altitude at or below the Transition Altitude will be given the appropriate QNH setting in their clearance to enter the Zone/TMA.
